Mystery VS Savoy…settled?
Adventures-of-a-pua.com has just learnt that the ongoing dispute between Mystery PUA (Venusian Arts) and Savoy PUA (Mystery Method) has been settled out of court for an, as of yet…undisclosed amount. It’s still not clear who was victorious, but the fact that Savoy is still running ‘Mysterymethod.com’ is particularly telling. As of yet neither side has commented on the situation and it seems unlikely for the time being, that either will.
The ownership dispute has been raging for over three years. In August, 2004 Nick Savoy and Mystery AKA Erik Von Markovich ( featured in the Neil Strauss bestseller The Game), Joined forces and formally agreed to a 75-25% profit sharing agreement for all customers, assets and intellectual capital to be owned jointly by them, under the guise of the Mystery Method Corporation. Later that same year Mystery asked Savoy to quit his current job and come on board at the ‘mystery method.com’ on a 50-50 basis, which Savoy promptly did.
The dispute between the two pickup artists began when, contradictory to previous agreements they had made…Mystery transferred the ‘mysterymethod.com’ domain to his own personal account and announced that he was going to start a new venture with fellow PUA’s Lovedrop (Chris Odom) and Matador (Stan Tayi) (Both feature alongside Mystery in Vh1’s The Pickup Artist)
Savoy then, acting as CEO of the Mystery Method Corporation filed a complaint against Mystery and attempted to recover the domain that he was legally entitled to, in accordance with the aforementioned arrangements between the two (these agreements are documented and are a matter of public record in the state of California).
Initially Savoy was successful and the California Superior Court granted Mystery Method Corporation a restraining order against Mystery and later issued an injunction to stop Mystery and the Venusian Arts from using the domain ‘mystery method.com’ with a redirect, a redirect that would take customers away from The Mystery Method and direct them towards Mystery’s new venture, The Venusian Arts.
A trial was originally scheduled for October 20, 2008 but with this recent news it appears one or both sides of the argument decided it was best to settle the matter out of court, and instead opted for a settlement. One can only assume that the details of the settlement are under a NDA (Non Disclosure agreement) as this hasn’t been reported in the mass media and both sides have refused to comment on the situation.
It appears though that for the time being the most famous feud in pickup since Thundercat called Tyler Durden “A fake, fraud, thief and a sociopath”.
is over……for now.
For nearly one and half years, I spent 1 - 5 hours most nights studying pick-up material.
I practiced picking-up women - or trying - mainly on weekends resulting in some of the
most hilarious, side-splitting moments you can imagine. I learned the hard way, the very hard way.
I am Brad, nice to meet you!
